Science

Swan Hill Primary prides itself on our unique Science program, and students from Foundation to Year 6 participate for 45 minutes each week. This is a chance for students to explore, problem-solve and discover the answer for themselves.  Science activities are designed to be ‘hands-on’; with no reading and answering questions out of a text book in these lessons! A Robotics program is taught across all class levels. Preps to Grade Four students learn to program a variety of robots. This culminates in the inclusion of Lego Robotics in the Year 5 and 6 program, which has been very successful and promotes cross-curricular skills and 21st Century Learning.

We are recognised as a 3 Star Resource Smart school and teach sustainability in our Science and Inquiry Learning programs. Teachers work with our Year 6 Environmental Leaders of the Future (ELFs) to promote Sustainability in our school. We have a school garden and chooks, which are fed our food scraps to ensure less waste. Green Week at Swan Hill Primary School is a great opportunity for our school to celebrate our practices and raise awareness in the community.
