Learning a language expands students’ communication skills, fosters inclusivity, and deepens their understanding of diverse communities. Swan Hill Primary School is proud to offer an Auslan (Australian Sign Language) program, enriching students’ ability to connect with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.
From Foundation to Year Six, students participate in a 45-minute Auslan lesson each week. Through interactive activities, including signing songs, games, and storytelling, students explore. Auslan in a fun and engaging way while gaining insight into Deaf culture.
Our Auslan program promotes empathy, inclusion, and a broader appreciation of language diversity, helping students become active and respectful members of our multicultural and multilingual society.
